Encaustic waterfall with Rocks formed of tar on clear drafting film
Waterfall #54
Encaustic with tar on clear drafting film (mylar)
56 inches high by 20 inches wide
2012

Primarily white and cream water falling on black rocks, with swirling white and cream water below the rocks. (Note: the reddish brown is part of the backdrop used to photograph the work, not part of the piece.)

The artist has specially treated the drafting film so that encaustic adhers -- an unconventional substrate for encaustic. The material is chosen to produce clarity and luminescence to the water and well as give mysterious shadows to the piece. .
