My paintings encompass themes of spirituality and place -- waterfalls, water, and coastal fog.
I adapt my use of materials to capture these. All include encaustic because of the luminosity it imparts to the subject matter. I usually paint on birch cradles or wood panels. Some works are on copper or drafting film (mylar) for the sparkle and clarity it adds to the work. Others are combined with metallic leaf or hung in front of leaf to impart a luminescence from behind. For me illumination of light and color is central to painting.
